Hi, there.
I must admit, submitting this application today is half for the community and half for myself.
For the community, it's because I fear that due to insufficient sign-ups or not meeting IFS-UN's requirements, the mainland region may no longer host IFS events. I can't claim to be the most qualified, but I simply do not want IFS, the only semi-official event mainland players can participate in, to disappear.
For myself, it's because since I returned to Ingress in 2018, I have experienced almost all the gameplay it offers. As my level increases and I collect more medals, I feel less motivated to open the Scanner. I still habitually open the game every day, deploy a few resonators, link a few lines. The remaining joy is chatting in the group with local agents. I also make sure to track the log of other players in IITC, inviting pros to swap biocards and new ones into the group. Perhaps, becoming one of the IFS event organizers is also a different kind of game experience.
I registered for the game in November 2015 and reached level 8 within two weeks. However, due to the lack of local community support and not making good use of Google at the time, I went AFK. This hiatus lasted for three years.
In 2018, when I moved and re-downloaded the Scanner due to a fortunate coincidence, and finally joined a local organization, I realized I had missed out on a lot. Whether it was global Anomalies or that many Mission Days held on the mainland China. Now, looking at the colorful Ingress Reports from that time and my own 2015-2017 anniversary bronze medals and the golden Guardian medal, I feel a bit of regret.
But time cannot be turned back. What I started doing since October '18 was to try my best to upgrade every medal to the onyx level. Therefore, I have submitted many Portals and missions, traveled many places, and met many Agents. In 2019, I helped organize three local IFS events.
In 2023, I started Rucking. For the sake of Stealth, Urban, and OCF medals, I went to Kobe in Japan, Bangkok in Thailand, and Macau in China. I packed my itinerary full, participated in all possible events, and tried to say Hi and swap biocards with every Agent I met.
I should thank Ingress. After returning in 2018, I have gained a rich and comprehensive understanding of the world because of Ingress.
